For CSIA Members who have achieved their Trainer Certification, the Level 4 Certification program is the pinnacle. It is designed to shape the most skilled, versatile, and professional instructors in Canada.
level 4 – what to expect
Achieving Level 4 Certification with CSIA involves a unique process. Here’s an overview:
- Application Submission:
- Gather and send your application to CSIA National’s office.
- Await approval:
- Before you can proceed, you must wait for CSIA National to review and approve your application.
- Academy Selection Camp Registration:
- Once your application is approved, you’ll be able to sign up for the Level 4 Academy Selection Camp.
- Level 4 Academy Camps Registration:
- If you demonstrate your abilities at Selection Camp, you can then enroll in the Level 4 Academy, which consists of Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3. Participation in all three is required.
- Level 4 Academy Exam:
- After successfully completing the Level 4 Academy Camps, you can take the Level 4 Academy Exam.
PREREQUISITES
- CSIA Trainer Designation
- CSIA Level 3 Certification
- Teaching experience within a recognized Snow School or other teaching institution
- Application submission accepted
- Pass the Level 4 Academy Selection Camp
application requirements
To apply for the Level 4 Academy, ensure your application includes:
- Cover letter (max. 500 words):
- Provide a concise ski career history
- Explain your interest in the Level 4 Academy
- Highlight the qualities that make you a strong Level 4 candidate
- Share your outlook on participating in the Level 4 Academy
- Resume:
- Include your Member Number
- Summarize your professional skills and experience
- Detail your involvement in the ski industry, both past and present
- Confirm previous employment with at least one recognized Snow School (or other teaching institution)
- (Optional) Reference Letter

APPLICATION DEADLINES
For December/January selection camps, make sure to apply by 30 November 2023. You can expect an update from CSIA National in early December 2023.
For February—April selection camps, the application deadline is 12 January 2024. Keep an eye out for an update from CSIA National in late January 2024.
⚠️ Remember: Your application must be approved before you can register for a Level 4 Selection Camp.

Thank you so much for offering me the scholarship. I truly cherish this opportunity and feel motivated to continue my contribution to the ski community.The scholarship is a good recognition for the effort I have invested in this career, and it will encourage me to go further. Most clients are not aware of the costs we bear behind the scene getting the training and certifications to succeed as an instructor, and with this scholarship I feel we are being understood and supported a little more. Currently I am in the process of pursuing my level 4, which is challenging in many aspects. This scholarship is one of the many help I received along this journey.

CSIA NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
CSIA National offers scholarship programs to our members.
membership types
CSIA offers four main types of membership. The cost of membership depends on your status and connections with other organizations. Contact CSIA’s national office to find out the cost of your membership.
Regular membership
If you’re an active Ski Instructor who’s currently teaching, or a member enrolled in a Certification Program or Pro Day, this membership is for you.
You’ll need at least your Level 1/Snow Park certification to join CSIA.
Associate membership
Associate members are Ski Instructors who are not currently teaching or taking any CSIA programs. Here are the perks:
- Loyalty rewards: CSIA members of 25+ years pay a reduced membership fee
- No Reinstatement fee (~$120) on top of your Regular membership fee if you decide to leave and rejoin CSIA
AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP
This membership is for Ski Instructors with a Foreign Certification who have received an equivalency from CSIA. Here’s how to get it:
- Complete the Affiliate Membership Application Form
- Include copies of your valid ISIA stamp or card (if applicable) and proof of your current certification (like a membership card) in your application
Once approved, CSIA National will grant you a CSIA Certification Level equivalency. You can then register for a CSIA Program once your Affiliate Membership fee is paid for the season.
And, if you successfully complete a CSIA Certification of equal or higher level, you can become a Regular member.
MILESTONE membership
CSIA National celebrates members who’ve paid their dues for a specific number of years. Check these milestones:
- 25 Year Membership
- 40 Year Membership
- 50 Year Membership
To honour their dedication and loyalty, these members pay a lower annual membership fee. Additionally, CSIA acknowledges 40 and 50 Year Members with special certificates and pins.

RE-JOIN CSIA
If you’ve decided to rejoin CSIA after taking a break, we’re thrilled to have you back! This process is called Reinstatement.
Simply complete CSIA National’s online Reinstatement Application. Make sure you have the following details on hand:
- Dates of your previous CSIA Certifications
- Ski resorts where you took your previous CSIA Certifications
- (Optional) Details of any other external certifications you’ve obtained (ACA, CASI, CANSI, or CADS)
BENEFITS & COSTS
Reinstatement allows you to rejoin CSIA without re-taking your Certification(s). However, there is an administrative fee of approximately $120.
Upon reinstatement, you’ll pay both the $120 fee and your standard season’s membership fee.
💡 TIP: If you’re not actively teaching skiing and don’t plan on taking a CSIA course in the next year, but might consider it in the future, you can benefit from the reduced rate of an Associate membership. This way, you’ll still accumulate membership years and won’t have to pay a Reinstatement fee when you decide to return to CSIA.
If you’ve been away for 3 or more years, you may need to complete a Recall activity to get updated on current teaching methods.
STAY SHARP WITH RECALL
If it’s been three years since you last took a CSIA program, it’s time for Recall.
WHAT’S RECALL?
Recall makes sure our members are up-to-date with the best ski instruction practices.
Complete Recall with:
- A Pro Day (full day)
- A Pro Session (half-day)
- Level Certification
- On-snow Course Conductor training session

- Log into your Members account at snowpro.com
- Click on the Member Area tab for more options
- Select the My Profile link
- Click the Download My Membership Card button
- Your Membership card will open in a new tab
