In alignment with our established election procedures and By-Laws, CSIA Ontario invites nominations for positions on our Board of Directors, with terms commencing in June 2024. Details follow below. Should you have inquiries or feedback, please reach out via email to:  gov@csiaontario.com

Directors are elected for a term of up to two years.  Each term shall expire at the annual general meeting in the final year of the term.  Directors shall be eligible for re-election to the board for two (2) additional terms to a maximum term of office of six (6) years. 


Directors sit for up to a three-year term, ending at the Annual General Meeting in the concluding year of the term, with the possibility of one re-election to a maximum of six consecutive years on the Board.


CSIA Ontario is not presently accepting applications.

Incumbent Directors seeking re-election must receive a nomination from a Member or a continuing Board Director. 

The term for those elected at the June 2024 Annual General Meeting will initiate immediately after that meeting. 


Prospective eligible nominees are invited to submit a résumé (max. two pages) complemented by a cover letter. Your cover letter should feature a concise personal statement delineating your interest and highlighting how your skills can help the CSIA Ontario board with its mandate.  Submit application to gov@csiaontario.com with the Subject “Nominating Committee”.

About the Board of Directors

Establish CSIA Ontario’s mission and vision within the framework of the national organization

Represent the professional interests of CSIA members residing in the Ontario region and strengthen CSIA Ontario’s programs and services

Ensure legal compliance and ethical integrity;
Set the annual budget of CSIA Ontario and provide responsible oversight;

Create and execute the strategic plan for CSIA Ontario;

Ensure adequate resources for CSIA Ontario and manage them responsibly;

Foster the growth of CSIA membership in Ontario;

Recruit and orient new directors and assess board performance.

Responsibilities of a director

Attend board meetings, usually evenings on the third Monday of each month;
Attend the annual general meeting, typically held in May/June;
Be a member of at least one committee or task group of the board;
Prepare for and participate in board meetings and understand the information provided;
Support substantive discussion and sound decision making so that the board fulfills its fiduciary responsibilities;
Be an ambassador of CSIA Ontario and the CSIA in general;
Fully support the CSIA’s goals by contributing to operational activities intended to deepen member engagement; 
Adhere to the Directors’ Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies. 


Directors shall be:
-Active members of CSIA;
-Citizens or permanent residents of Canada that reside within the CSIA region of Ontario; and at least 18 years of age.
Directors shall not:
-Have been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country;
-Have the status of bankrupt;
-Be an ineligible individual as that term is defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada).

Desired Skills

CSIA Ontario is currently seeking four directors with strength in the following:
Governance – previous board or corporate management experience, especially in the not-for-profit sector
Team building – who works to collaborate and build consensus
Leadership – interest in working toward an executive role on the board
Strategic thinking – the ability to create and monitor long- and short-term plans 
Member engagement – especially strategies to build member retention incorporating diversity & inclusion
Communications – with an ability to segment and reach audiences through multiple channels (e.g., web, email, social media, networking)
