CSIA Ontario Level One Program

Kids ski instructor

Course Description

The Level 1 Course is a 26 hour long program that typically runs over four consecutive days, however can also be attended over six evenings or several other combinations (please see the 2005/2006 Ontario Level 1 Course Schedule).

Course Candidates are introduced to Canadian Ski Technique, teaching methodology and practices as well as developing their own skiing, teaching and interpersonal skills. A large portion of the course is focused on Guest Service. Candidates receive constant personal feedback from the Course Conductors over the duration of the course. There is an ongoing evaluation of the Candidates’ skills to determine whether or not the passing criteria required for the Level 1 certification is met.

Candidates leave the course with an understanding of how to teach skiing up to the intermediate (basic parallel) level as well as how to demonstrate skiing skills up to this ability. A significant portion of the Level 1 Course is dedicated to personal ski improvement.
